Taking on the Opioid Epidemic

Action is heating up. The White House last week rolled out a new public service campaign geared toward combatting opioid abuse among our nation’s youth (read morehere). The U.S. House of Representatives will spend this week and next passing 70+ bills to combat the opioid crisis — the most significant congressional effort against a single drug crisis in history. The Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday unanimouslyadvanced the Helping to End Addiction and Lessen (HEAL) Substance Use Disorders Act of 2018. The legislation seeks to improve how Medicare, Medicaid and human services programs respond to the opioid crisis (read more about congressional efforts here
